The Baltic Sea has seen a significant decline in bookings this summer, despite the best weather conditions and increased flight prices abroad. While 2023 was still a record year with 4.8 million arrivals and 18 million overnight stays, many hotel beds remained empty this year and price reductions were necessary. Tourism associations report a divided situation: some hotels are well utilised, others significantly less so. The reasons for this are the tense economic situation and consumer restraint, especially among families. Nevertheless, the North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts remain popular for domestic holidaymakers.
